In todays digital world it becomes more and more important to be able to supply top quality appropriately sized digital scans from film and art for publication, use in web-oriented activities, picture CD projects, movie and TV stills, and archiving.

To that end Photoflair is proud to offer a selection of top quality, yet price-conscious, scanning services catering to film of all popular sizes up to 4" x 5": and flat-copy art up to 4 foot by 6 foot!

Film scanning is by the latest state-of-the-art technology producing  up to 4.2 dmax  and includes digital dust-busting and image corrections.

The following price guide expresses scan sizes in terms of PIXELS (picture elements). Image users often request images in terms of DPI (dots per inch). To determine the proper size for your scan you should multiply the final desired reproduction size (in inches) by the requested DPI figure. For example if you want a 6" x 8" final printed piece, and your printer has asked for 300 dpi, the pixel size required would be (6" x 300 dpi) = 1800 pixels by (8" x 300 dpi) = 2400 pixels. It is not a bad thing to order MORE pixels than you need, but try to avoid ordering less as this will impair the reproduction quality. NB some printers will specify print requirements in LPI (lines per inch). Simply double this figure to arrive at the DPI requirement!
